German Gew 71/84 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, #6173, 11mm Mauser cal., 31.5'' barrel, blued/bright finish, hardwood stock, dovetailed inverted-''V'' front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with ''V''-notches, graduated to 1600 meters. Left side of the receiver is marked ''I.G.Mod.71/84'' and the right side with ''1888'' production date. Top of the barrel shank is marked ''(Crown)SPANDAU'' and the left side with a ''(Crown)F.W.'' There are crowned inspection stamps on the right side of the receiver and barrel; faint acceptance stamps on right side of the buttstock. Visible matching numbers. Condition overall is fine, with the blued barrel and components retaining approx. 90% blue, with light frosting, wear, and patina to the trigger guard. Bright receiver and bolt assembly show mild darker toning, especially to the bolt handle. Stock with light handling marks and impressions to the even colored finish. Action functions well. Bore is bright with excellent, well-defined rifling. Est.: $700-$1,000. (Antique)
